Organizational Background

Development Society is a community-based non-governmental organization rooted in the local realities of Sarlahiand Madhesh Province. The organization works with schools, communities, local governments and civil societyactors to address interconnected development challenges such as educational disadvantage, weak communityparticipation, limited livelihood opportunities and social exclusion.Over time, Development Society has built practical experience in education recovery, literacy promotion, teachercapacity development, EMIS/IEMIS strengthening, school governance, student assessment, child health-relatedschool activities, community mobilization, livelihood and employment policy support, and coordination with local government structures.
The organization believes that sustainable development requires community ownership, inclusive participation andstrong local systems. Its work therefore emphasizes practical, locally relevant and participatory approaches.

An inclusive and equitable society where all individuals, especially children, youth, women and marginalized groups, have access to quality education, meaningful participation and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

To improve the socio-economic conditions of vulnerable communities through inclusive, participatory andevidence-based development interventions in education, health and nutrition, governance, livelihood and social inclusion.
